Welcome to Tarmac & Gravel

After attending the Prescott Rally in 2005, I knew I had to build a rally car. Being a dedicated DSMer, I knew I had to build a Mitsubishi. I bought 1991 Galant VR4 195/2000. But then I thought, these cars are far too rare and way too sweet for me to build one up just to stuff it in a ditch somewhere near the border, so at the Prescott Rally in 2008, I lucked out and found 1992 Galant VR4 464/1000.

This site is dedicated to [464] Tarmac & [195] Gravel. One to stay clean. One to press on regardless.

Things You Just Hate Having to Do

So I took 464 through emissions. It passed. I went across the street and renewed my registration. Paid in full, got my 2011 tab for the license plate – done deal. Then I had the title branded. Unfortunately, the dullard who performed the transaction didn’t tell me that salvaging the title canceled the registration and made the car ‘unlawful for highway use’ in the state of Arizona. I had to get a level III inspection at the DMV to ensure the car was roadworthy.

Two Galants, both alike in dignity,
In fair Phoenix, where we lay our scene,
From ancient sloth break to new irresponsibility,
Where texting fingers make drivers’ hands unclean.
From forth the fatal lanes of these Phoenix roads
A pair of star-cross’d Galants are totaled out;
Whole misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death make racing possible.
The fearful passage of their death-marked titles,
And continuance of their owner’s rage,
Which, but his Mitsus’ end, nought could remove,
Is now the two minutes’ traffic of this page;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
Where here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

Jetta Incident Resolution

Filed Under ([464] Tarmac) by DR1665 on 07-06-2010

It’s been just under two months since some text messaging choad in a Jetta railed me. I have fought the good fight, but this week, 464/1000, one of less than 300 Kensington Grey Galant VR4s ever sold in North America, will have a salvage title and become a daily driven parts car.
